What material do you use?
All of our skirting boards and architraves are made using MR MDF, and this ensures that the boards are not only moisture resistant but also higher in density, sometimes described as ‘HDF’, to ensure a smooth finish for both primed and unprimed orders.
How long will my order take?
You can select from a variety of delivery options available at checkout, our standard delivery is around 3-5 working days.
How do I know when to expect delivery?
It is important that you leave a working contact telephone number and email address when placing your order as we will send you both an email and text confirmation of your delivery.
Can I have my order delivered on a specific day?
Yes, please contact the office with your desired delivered date, and our friendly staff will be able to confirm this for you.
How will my order be delivered?
We have had many years of experience sending bulky freight across the UK and have tailored our packaging to ensure you receive your goods undamaged and ready to work with.
What should I use to fit my skirting board?
Skirting boards can be installed using a variety of methods however we recommend using a grab adhesive and, if necessary, pinning where required.
Can you make a specific skirting board pattern?
Our in-house tool manufacturing department is capable of matching or creating any profile required. If you are looking to make an existing skirting or architrave, please contact our knowledgeable sales team who will be able to assist you.
What is the minimum order value?
Our minimum order value is £72.00 before delivery.
Can I add to an order once it has been processed?
Yes, an order can be added to providing we have not despatched it, if any order has been despatched then any additional items ordered will be processed as a separate order.

What are MDF skirting boards?

Do MDF skirting boards need undercoating?
You need to use a primer that’s suitable for MDF. The reason for this is that it will prevent the MDF from breaking down. Also, MDF should always have two to three coats of primer applied before you paint the MDF.
Are MDF skirting boards cheaper than wood?

Are MDF Skirting boards better then wood?
MDF is an excellent material to use when manufacturing skirting boards and architraves. Also, unlike wood, there are no imperfections or knots, giving your skirting boards and architraves a clean, modern look.
Following on, MDF takes less time to prepare compared to wood as all that is needed to prepare MDF is sanding down it down to make it smooth and then applying a few coats of primer before applying paint.
Can MDF skirting boards be used in a bathroom?
Yes, MDF skirting boards are suitable for use in bathrooms as they are moisture-resistant. However, it must be remembered that they are not waterproof.
Architraves FAQ
What are Architraves?
Architrave is a form of moulding between a doorway and a wall and is used in the majority of houses, offices and other buildings. Due to its use, architraves are commonly incorrectly referred to as a door casing or door surround.
What is architrave made from?
In the majority of households, architraves are made from either MDF, hardwood or softwood.
Where can you use architraves?
Architraves can be used on several parts around a house or office. Some of these parts are:
Window frames – adding architrave around window frames gives the window frame a more focused design, compared to the plain design without.
Loft hatches – Most loft hatches in a house are hidden but not invisible, so adding architraves around your loft hatch gives it a more distinctive look.
Doors – Architraves are used around doors to hide the joints and any shrinkage that follows between the door and the wall.
