Our skirting boards and architraves are available in three material options: Moisture Resistant (MR) MDF, Oak and Pine.

MR MDF
Our MDF products are manufactured using premium FSC® certified Moisture Resistant (MR) MDF as standard. This is a higher-density board than standard MDF, sometimes referred to as HDF, which provides a smoother, more consistent finish. We offer both primed and unfinished MDF options.

Oak
Our Oak skirting boards are manufactured primarily from FSC® certified American White Oak. This durable hardwood has a beautiful natural grain and is ideal for staining, oiling or leaving with a clear finish.

Pine
Our Pine skirting boards are manufactured from FSC® certified high-quality softwood, often referred to as spruce within the timber industry. Pine is a cost-effective choice that’s ideal for painting or finishing to your preference.

If you choose one of our unfinished products, please note that light sanding may be required before decorating to remove any minor handling or machining marks and achieve the best possible finish.

We have had many years of experience sending bulky freight across the UK and have tailored our packaging to ensure you receive your goods undamaged and ready to work with.

Skirting boards can be installed using a variety of methods however we recommend using a grab adhesive and, if necessary, pinning where required.

Our in-house tool manufacturing department is capable of matching or creating any profile required. If you are looking to make an existing skirting or architrave, please contact our knowledgeable sales team who will be able to assist you.

Yes, an order can be added to providing we have not despatched it, if any order has been despatched then any additional items ordered will be processed as a separate order.

MDF skirting board is known for being an affordable and reliable material. People chose MDF skirting boards for their homes due to the durability of the material and that it doesn’t swell or warp from moisture.

You need to use a primer that’s suitable for MDF. The reason for this is that it will prevent the MDF from breaking down. Also, MDF should always have two to three coats of primer applied before you paint the MDF.

MDF is an excellent material to use when manufacturing skirting boards and architraves. Also, unlike wood, there are no imperfections or knots, giving your skirting boards and architraves a clean, modern look.

Following on, MDF takes less time to prepare compared to wood as all that is needed to prepare MDF is sanding down it down to make it smooth and then applying a few coats of primer before applying paint.

Yes, MDF skirting boards are suitable for use in bathrooms as they are moisture-resistant. However, it must be remembered that they are not waterproof.

Architrave is a form of moulding between a doorway and a wall and is used in the majority of houses, offices and other buildings. Due to its use, architraves are commonly incorrectly referred to as a door casing or door surround.

In the majority of households, architraves are made from either MDF, hardwood or softwood.

Architraves can be used on several parts around a house or office. Some of these parts are:

Window frames – adding architrave around window frames gives the window frame a more focused design, compared to the plain design without.

Loft hatches – Most loft hatches in a house are hidden but not invisible, so adding architraves around your loft hatch gives it a more distinctive look.

Doors – Architraves are used around doors to hide the joints and any shrinkage that follows between the door and the wall.
